Joining LTP
My Name is Sarah Peck, and on the 16 May 2022, I joined Local Transport Projects (LTP) in Beverley as a Principal Highway Engineer.
Prior to joining LTP I worked for the Port Authority for 11 years working mainly on designing and delivering port related schemes typically ranging from £50k to £8m. These included Warehouses and associated works, rail upgrades, quay and paving repairs, the general maintenance and upkeep of the Port Estate Infrastructure. Before this I worked for National Highways and the East Riding of Yorkshire Council as a Highway Engineer.
I have really enjoyed the first 6 months of my new position at LTP, it has however at times been a steep learning curve, getting back up to speed with design standards such as DMRB, Manual for Street and LTN 1/20 whilst also understanding and getting to grips with new computer software such as Site 3D and Swept Path Analysis (SPA) drawing packages, but with the support from colleagues this has made it a lot easier.
There is such a vast amount of knowledge and experience within the office that there is always someone on hand to help or point you in the right direction.
The projects I have been involved with in the last 6 months are so varied that no two days are the same, the variety of these works is great as it means the job never becomes repetitive.
LTP have clients across the UK which again makes for interesting site visits, seeing corners of the UK which usually I wouldn’t see!
I must work to tight deadlines to ensure that our clients receive their designs/information promptly which certainly makes the days fly by! This makes for a very interesting and diverse role within the company.
The opportunity to develop within LTP is also very apparent as I have recently become a Fellow Member of the Institute of Highway Engineers, this support and encouragement is fantastic making LTP a great place to work.
